dear Reader, please notice: near the bottom of the middle column the term “Religio depopulata” – that applied to Pope Benedict XV during the First World War.  depopulation!  “Fides intrepida” would be Pius XI and describing him as intrepid is an understatement! then comes Pius XII – angelic pastor – ok, he promulgated some very ethereal doctrines, like the Assumption of Mary’s body into heaven, and that humans arose from an original pair of parents (which is not a binding doctrine like the Assumption.) the right hand column goes through the Popes from John XXIII to the one that will be elected in March, 2013: Peter the Roman – and then the end of the world.

  • Jesus says that only the Father knows the time and the season of the End. But maybe the Father is gradually informing His Church through the Virgin Mary, and other prophetic messages. Fatima revelations (given to children, as Pope Benedict XVI astutely pointed out are filtered through a child’s mind and experience) seem to dovetail with the Malachy prophecy of the end and the destruction of Rome. Maybe even in John’s Book of Revelation the destruction of Rome is visualized in some distorted fashion. The Great Satan is what Iran calls the Pope and is at least as prime a target for attack as is Jerusalem.

  • Some may think it queer that I even pay this much attention to these things, to which let me say that Sir Isaac Newton has written many times more religious tracts about the same topic – The End – as about Science. So it is certainly very rational to concern oneself with the End of the World, as well as one’s own death. Got Life Insurance?

  • the destruction of the city of seven hills can be applied to two cities. Rome. and Jerusalem. with equal credence. BOTH are built on seven hills and BOTH are called the City of the Seven Hills. go figure….
