  • Some thoughts on Bob Dylan

Dylan said he’d have liked to put out a more religious album than his most recent one, which was “Tempest.” I like his “Christmas Album” where Bob celebrates the Nativity of Jesus, God’s Lordship, – and even sings in Latin!  Bob sure has suffered for being Jewish and accepting Jesus, and sticking with it. I think I admire Bob for that even more than for his work as a singer/songwriter. I also admire Bob for, once becoming Christian, not letting his poetry become cliched with Christian terminology. He was able to keep his cool, and remain critical, and still see the truth in Christian propositions. Now that is really rare, and helps explain why/how Bob was able to move beyond the fundamental point of view (which we all knew he would have to.)

I wonder if Bob has gotten married again? Somewhere I heard he married that 37 year old Harvard grad who smokes pot but is a Catholic, and they live in Scotland in that 10 million dollar castle Bob bought in the highlands. But, who knows for sure? Was it a Catholic ceremony in a Catholic Church? It is devilishly difficult to get personal information about Bob. I don’t know how he does it. If Smiley Virus paints her toenails a different color, we all know about it. But Bob might have as many as 10 kids and no one even has a clue. Go figure.

So, Bob was awarded another medal, from France, – France’s highest civilian award, just like Zero gave Bob America’s highest civilian honor? Does Bob Dylan really deserve such high accolades?

    You better believe it!

Only Shakespeare has been able to communicate as effectively in English. Sophocles, Shakespeare, and Bob…top three ever.

Bob could’ve done much better, but that binge with heroin really caused long term damage to his brain. Sad. Not to mention what has happened to his singing voice…which is also sad.

But, sin is a terrible damper on what God wants to accomplish with His gifts.

What makes Bob, and Shakespeare, and Sophocles GREAT is their familiarity with TRAGEDY. (It’s what makes Spielberg a drop of piss: he doesn’t go there.) Tragedy plumbs the depths of the human spirit. The USA and all the pretty maids in a row don’t want to hear about it. “Desolation Row”, ” “Hollis Brown”, “Under a Red Sky”, “Like a Rolling Stone”, “Let Me Die in My Footsteps” etc. etc. etc.  all face the tragic.

That’s what we have on our hands RIGHT NOW – a fucking NATIONAL TRAGEDY! just like MacBeth or Hamlet. and Americans don’t know how to deal with it, because they always listened to Pop, Do-Wop, Easy Listening, Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, and Sting. Oh, Please!

  • ANALOG Security – a new business niche?

    Hi Campers!

Here’s something I need some feedback on…. In light of the Edward Snowden NSA whistleblower scandal, perhaps we have a bold new business niche opening up: ANALOG SECURITY.

What’s that you say? It’s secure message transport. Privacy. Confidentiality. Secrecy, guaranteed.

How does it work?  I post an advertisement in a newspaper looking for clients.  The ad reads something like this:

“Need a CONFIDENTIAL message delivered? Don’t want ANYONE to know?
Contact ANALOG SECURITY.  A representative will be standing on the corner of 5th Avenue and 34th St.
wearing a straw hat and a flower in his shirt pocket. Free consultation. The ball is now in your court….”

So far, I am not doing packages, just messages, written or verbal.

    * * *

Well, whaddaya think? See any bizarre scenarios unfolding? It’s legal to do this, or was, back in the USA; but now, in the country we find ourselves in, I am not so sure. Why shouldn’t it be legal? Privacy is still permitted, isn’t it? Did anyone see that bicycle messenger movie, “Premium Rush”…might get that interesting….

The Catholic bishops really need to come up with something like this for themselves and for their flock….

  • The Four Cardinal Virtues

    P.J.F.T.

    Prudence

    Justice

    Fortitude

    Temperance

I sorta blend them together in my head to try to see what it looks like….They sorta pair up well. Prudence with Justice; and Temperance with Fortitude. Don’t you think so?  I am not too knowledgeable about Prudence…I tend to fold it together with Carefullness…and get something that looks like Discretion (which goes well with Justice too!), but Discretion might be another virtue altogether different from Prudence…..

Bundled in a bunch they look like a super-hero guy (that’s me, well, my alter ego) who is the strong silent type, doesn’t say much, (that’s the Prudence) but thinks deeply, and knows when to kick ass, i.e. massively assert himself…that’s the Fortitude…for the sake of Right, Truth and….Justice…and doesn’t dip into the dark side, can’t be corrupted, is profoundly committed to the mission of the Witness…that’s Temperance.

Whoah. He wears a hat, a fedora!? (Not a cap.) and has babes dripping all over him, all of whom he stares deeply into their eyes, but moves on, and leaves them in a tither.

He’s up against a bunch of tough guys. Whoah…maybe this is the movie “High Noon” with Gary Cooper.

or maybe it’s the Gospel of Luke.

  • NSA snooping CONSEQUENCES

NSA snooping has some pretty wild consequences.  Why didn’t they tell we, the people?

What about our bank accounts? Online access gives them all our codes, so they can take all our money any time they want to.

Not that “We,” The People have very much left anyhow….

Who are the terrorists? What is the profile of the terrorists the NSA is supposedly snooping to discover? Clearly it is US.

xangans. no wonder the site is shutting down….

Oh, by the way, is the Hong Kong version also shutting down?  Nah, no way. It’s an Asian smash against the English speaking xangans…

    am I mistaken?

  • Earth vs. World

    Earth vs. World

Earth vs. World. Sounds like the title of a grade B sci-fi flick… not at all. It’s a battle between conflicting Points Of View, – the winner of which will determine the future of humanity.

    Where do you stand?

At the top of this screen are the letters: “www” – world wide web. That’s global alright, but it’s not Earth. It’s not Earth because “the world” is not a planet. “The world” does not exist in space. “The world” does not have unlimited resources, limitless boundaries, and endless possibilities. Earth does.

Most adults have been educated to the harsh realities of the world.  Departments of Education are filled with professionals dedicated to teaching their charges the Ins – and Outs – of living in the modern world.

The symbol that represents the Point Of View that our esteemed educators strive so heroically to inculcate stands in every classroom, in every library, in every school. It is the globe of the geo-politcal world (pictured above), titled 23 1/2 degrees on its stand, with all the countries a different color, and every capital city’s name – capitalized.

But we live on Earth. Earth, – with no lines of division between the countries, and the colors of its planetary topography clearly visible through its changing cloud patterns- spins in space around a yellow star on the outer edges of a spiral galaxy.

The “world” doesn’t really even exist anymore. It is fiction. When the world stopped existing isn’t exactly clear. The Apollo lunar landing missions seemed to have struck “the world” a lethal blow. The photographs of the Whole Earth taken by our astronauts half-way to the moon were touted as heralds of a New Humanity.

But the geologists fought back. They defined astronomy as the study of space, up to, BUT NOT INCLUDING, the atmosphere of Earth. In other words, “Keep your hands off our world!” Because the geologists dug gold, and oil, and uranium, they succeeded in preserving the concept of the world as a geographical entity with soverign resources – worth fighting over. So, technically, Earth is not an astrophysical object. It could be said that the Earth doesn’t even exist…only the world exists as far as academia is concerned….

That these same resources exist more abundantly, and potentially more readily retrievable, elsewhere in space, hasn’t quite made the headlines yet.*

Just how ridiculous the struggle between “world views” has become is manifested no more clearly than in the “debate” over Global Warming.

Just the term: “global” warming should send up a red flag that the issue is being treated from a political, i.e. world – not Earth – point of view. 2010 saw Japan literally SELL its carbon credits to Hungary. Having emitted more than its alloted amount of polllution, Japan offered something in the neighborhood of $55 million to Hungary if Hungary, which was well below its pollution quota, would accept the transfer of Japan’s contravening pollution credits. Voila! Japan was no longer in violation of its Kyoto treaty commitments.

This type of manipulation isn’t going to get us where “we” need to go. You can’t solve the problems of the PLANET EARTH using the tools, terms, and ideas left over from the WORLD.  It would be comical if it weren’t so tragically critical for the planet Earth.

Here’s a test to see just where you stand: have you moved onto Earth yet? Or a you still stuck back on the world?

    1) Which French group won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999?

    2) Which two planets have female names?

    3) Have intelligent civilizations been discovered living in space (as of 2013)?

    4) Where is the largest natural gas deposit located?

  • Obama in Satanist t-shirt

Why would the President of The United States be wearing a Satanist t-shirt?

    Seriously, I don’t think this is a photo-shopped picture?
